This family-owned and run hotel is set in a magnificent Victorian mansion house in a quiet street close to the heart of Windermere village.
With a magnificent oak panelled lounge, bar and conservatory restaurant serving imaginative cuisine by our award- winning head chef, you will find the Applegarth is the perfect base for exploring the Lakes. Our wonderful location gives you the opportunity of stepping onto the lake land fells, boarding a steamer on Lake Windermere or visiting some of the many attractions the Lake District has to offer. Yet the hotel is only 20 minutes by car from the M6 and a very short walk from the main bus and rail services.
In consideration of our many guests who join us to escape family and business pressures, we are unable to welcome children. All guests have complimentary use of the nearby Parklands Country Club.

Directions
By Car:
From the north or south:
- Exit the M6 at junction 36 and take the A591 signposted for Windermere.
- After about 7 miles you will come to a large roundabout; simply head straight on, again signposted for Windermere.
- After about 8 miles you will come into Windermere. Turn left into Elleray Road, which is just after the National Westminster Bank, then take the 1st right into College Road.
- You will find the Applegarth Hotel about 50 metres along College Road on the right-hand side. We have a private car park available at the rear of the hotel.
By Train:
Head for Oxenholme Station on the west coast line, and change to a train to Windermere. The hotel is a 3-minute walk from the station.
